Laurie & Gaby with "Rigby" (NBISS GSilverCh LAMZ Eleanor Rigby CAA RATI RATN CGC)

The LAMZ Bedlington Terrier line is a collaboration of the efforts of mother-daughter team Laurie Zembrzuski and Gaby Gilbeau. Our involvement in purebred dogs began in 2003 with the addition of our first bedlington terrier, Gypsy (CH Chelsea's Blue Gypsy Dancer RA SE CGC) to our family. She was our first show dog, and with her we began to learn the ins and outs of the show ring. After showing her for a few months, we were hooked. At Montgomery that year, Gaby stole Gypsy away from Laurie and so it was decided that one dog was one too few for two handlers. Soon after, Vegas (MBISS GCH LAMZ Viva Las Vegas RN SE CA RATI RATN CGC) joined the family. Both dogs finished their AKC Championships on the same day, in August 2004, and we decided to retire Gypsy and lightly show Vegas as a special. We didn't realize until after the fact how lucky we were to be graced with such an amazing dog for our foundation stud. In 2005, Vegas did extremely well, ending the year as the #5 bedlington in the US after winning a huge Best of Breed during the BTCA National Specialty Weekend in October at the Morris & Essex Kennel Club dog show. We specialed Vegas in 2005, 2006 and 2007 and he did very well, completing all three years in the top-10 of the breed and was the #1 bedlington (breed-points) in 2007. He was put into semi-retirement after 2007, and has since made limited appearances at the larger shows where he continues to be placed among the top dogs on the day. Even as a Veteran, Vegas has been recognized for his outstanding quality, winning the 2011 BTCA National Specialty under Breeder-Judge Jackie Fogel of First Class Bedlingtons and Bassets, at nearly 8 years old, as well as taking a Group 1 on the day he finished his Grand Championship, just shy of his 9th birthday. He continues to be the cornerstone of our breeding program as his progeny have been out winning top awards across the country.

In 2005 we had our first litter, from which we kept two puppies, Rocky and Chloe. Both puppies became AKC champions, with some nice wins along the way. We have now bred several nice litters and have dogs out in show rings and performance venues throughout the country. We have produced a Reserve Best in Show Winner, numerous Group Winners and Placers, Puppy Group Winners, 5-point major winners, a Best Puppy in Specialty winner, a National Specialty Winners Dog/Best of Winners, a National Specialty Sweepstakes Winner, a Regional and Floating Specialty Winners Dog, a National Specialty Winners Bitch, various performance titled dogs, certified therapy dogs and dogs who have gone on to many other notable accomplishments. We look forward to what the future has in store for all of the LAMZ puppies and our extended "families" who live with and love these dogs.

We firmly believe that a top dog should not only prove themselves in the show ring and, subsequently, the whelping box, but should also excel in performance events that test their instinct, brains and temperament. We actively compete with our dogs in a range of performance events such as Rally-O, Coursing Ability Testing (Lure Coursing), Agility, Earthdog, Barn Hunt and the AKC's Canine Good Citizen program. We have dogs who hold titles in all of these events, including higher-level titles in many of them. Although our time is mostly spent in the conformation ring, we ensure that we take several weekends each year to attend various performance events.

We are strong supporters of juniors, both in our breed and in others. Gaby competed actively in Junior Showmanship until she aged out in October of 2007, and was the #2 Bedlington junior in 2005, and #1 bedlington junior in 2006 and 2007, as well as being a top-10 terrier junior both years and in the top 30 juniors in the country in 2007. She was the first junior to show a bedlington at the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship. With Vegas, she qualified for Eukanuba twice and Westminster once. All of the children in our family have competed in Junior Showmanship and have moved into the open class. Ryan had a few wins and has been a ranked bedlington junior during numerous years. Currently, one of our bedlingtons, Roadie, is being shown in Juniors by his owner, Morgan Miller, who has been doing incredibly well with him, winning her class at many shows and has many Best Junior Handler Awards. Roadie and Morgan have been the #1 Bedlington Junior Handler team for numerous years and were the #1 terrier junior handler team in the United States in 2010. We are so proud of all of her accomplishments and wish her continued success in the future! Recently, Lydia Frey joined our Junior Showmanship "family." She started off showing Vegas in juniors in order to qualify for Eukanuba 2011 and to learn more about the presentation of our breed. She is now showing her own bedlington, Tony, and the two of them together are the current #1 Bedlington Terrier Junior Showmanship team in the country for 2014.
