About Rigby:
Rigby was born on the same day as her grand-dam, just 5 years later. She is the result of a truly international partnership, combining American, English, Canadian and Swedish lines. We had used her sire, Wilde, with Chloe's dam, Gypsy, in 2006 and gotten some outstanding puppies, and decided to return to Wilde and we are thrilled with the results of this litter which incorporates some of Vegas into the pedigree. Rigby combines some of the best traits of not only her sire and dam, but also her grandsire and dam. Her coordinated sidegait enables her to float around the show ring, coupled with a front assembly that can't be beat. Her, correct, "V" front and tremendous layback of shoulder and return of upper arm give her proper reach for the breed. A rarity in the breed these days, her proper, dark coat color set her apart from many bedlingtons in the ring. She has a beautiful, small, dark eye in a very feminine head. There are so many wonderful things to be said about this typey, feminine little girl.
Not to be outdone by her brother, Comet, Rigby won a Group 1 in a match at the tender age of 4.5 months old. She didn't stop there, entering the real show ring at 6mos and 1day old, and walking out with her first 3-point major. Rigby then repeated that performance the next day, receiving both majors by 6mos and 2days old. She followed that up by going Best Puppy In Breed at the Bedlington Terrier Club of Greater Denver specialty show in August of 2008.
In the early fall she went Winners/Best of Winners/Best of Opposite for another major, bringing her total to 3 majors. She also went Best Bred-By in Breed and took a Bred-By Group 2 that day. She finished her championship in early 2009 with a total of 5 Major wins.
In 2009, Rigby and Gaby partnered up for what would become a very successful special's career. In their first full weekend out together, they were awarded three group placements, one of which was over a top-10 terrier. Over the year, the pair garnered many more breed wins and group placements and formed a formidible team in the show ring. In late 2009, after a light year of showing, she was awarded a group 4 at the Kennel Club of Philadelphia over two top-5 terriers (and won the breed over the #1 bedlington). She was given an Award of Merit at the BTCA floating National held in conjunction with the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship and was Best Bred-By Exhibitor in breed (she was also pulled in the cut in the Bred-By group). In February of 2010, Rigby received the only Award of Merit given to a bedlington terrier at Westminster.
Rigby had continued success as a special in 2010, staying in the top-5 in breed points for most of the year. Rigby went on to become the AKC's very FIRST Grand Champion Bedlington Terrier. Over 2010, they picked up many more Best of Breed wins and Group Placements, ending the year (tied for) the #6 Bedlington Terrier in the USA. After the 2010 show season, Rigby was put away for her half-brother, Shilling, to stretch his legs in the show ring while Rigby whelped and raised her first litter.
Rigby whelped her first litter in the summer of 2011, sired by Vegas. We could not have been happier with the resulting puppies who had incredible coats, heads and were stunning movers in all directions. There were 4 males and 1 female in the litter. The female went up to Canada where she is being shown by Christopher Lee of Camerata Bedlingtons and at least 2 of the males will be shown here in the United States. Her son, Barnum (Ch LAMZ Greatest Show on Earth), finished his championship at 11 months of age and is already pointed towards his grand championship! Her other son, Jack (Ch LAMZ Cotton Candy and Cracker Jack), finished his championship before 18mos of age going Winners Dog at the 2012 BTCA Floating National Specialty and two of the shows during the National Specialty Weekend! Rigby is an incredible little girl, both in the ring and in the whelping box.
In 2012, Rigby made her return to the show ring after taking 2011 off to raise her first litter. She won many Best of Breed awards in strong lineups and placed in exceptionally strong terrier groups all throughout the year. During the National Specialty weekend in Louisville, 2012, Rigby made it to the final cut in breed on multiple days and received an Award of Merit on Friday. Over the summer, she continued racking up Best of Breed awards in beautiful entries and placing in very strong groups. In October, Rigby received Back-to-Back Terrier Group 1's! These were her first group wins after many placements over the years. This makes her our 4th terrier group winner (after Vegas, Roadie and Shilling) and the second group winner produced by her dam, Chloe. Rigby won over 800 All-Breed points in 2012 and finished the year ranked as the #2 Bedlington Terrier (Breed Points) in the USA!
2013 sees Rigby capping off an incredible specials career. In February, Rigby went Best of Breed at the 137th annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show at Madison Square Garden in New York City! She is our first Westminster breed winner, and had received an Award of Merit at Westminster in 2010 and was Best of Opposite in 2014. She followed that up in March by going Select Bitch at the 2013 BTCA National Specialty in Louisville, KY. Rigby took the spring and summer off to whelp her second litter of puppies, coming back out in August to go Best in Specialty Show at the 2013 BTCA Floating National Specialty Show in Greeley, CO. Rigby returned to Westminster in 2014, and was awarded Best of Opposite at Westminster 2014. Her 9-month old daughter, Vogue (GCh LAMZ Strike A Pose), from her May 2013 litter, was Select Bitch to her at Westminster 2014! Rigby took an Award of Merit at Westminster 2015! Her daughter, Vogue, was Best of Breed at the 139th annual Westminster Kennel Club dog show! Rigby will continue being spot-specialed at the big shows as she nears retirement.
We could not be more proud of all that this little girl has accomplished. We have had so much fun with her over the years! Rigby has always been a showgirl through and through. She will go out of her way to make the judge, her handler and the audience laugh while she is in the ring; whether it be taking exaggerated stretches after getting off the exam table, sneaking kisses to the judges when they least expect it or pretending to be fiesty in an effort to surprise the crowd. It will be bittersweet to retire her after her 2012 campaign, but we could not ask for a better pet, show dog, producer or family member and we look forward to seeing what the future brings for her future litters and maybe dabbling into the performance venues!
